Protecting Cardholder (and ACH) Data
The goal of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is to protect cardholder data wherever it is processed, stored or transmitted. PCI Security is a never ending struggle between the “haves” (organizations that have cardholder data) and the “have nots” (the bad guys that want the data). The details of PCI DSS Version 3.2 have been considered best practices through January-end but became requirements on February 1, 2018. We’ll review the current payment industry standard for protecting cardholder data as well as ideas for applying the same standard to safeguard the Automated Clearing House (ACH).
